Philipp Grob

St. Gallen, Eastern Switzerland

Natural, raw, straightforward

Philipp Grob makes wine the way a true story is told: without embellishment, without makeup, and with deep tenderness for what nature provides.

His vines, located on three steep plots in Eastern Switzerland, are cultivated by hand, without herbicides, without added yeasts, without fining or filtration. His wines ferment spontaneously, age for a year in barrels, then are bottled — unfiltered, unsulfited. Just the grape, patience, and a lot of respect.

In his cellar carved into the rock just a stone's throw from the Steinach, each vintage slowly rests, away from the noise. The wine takes its time. And you can taste it.

His Terroirs

Hahnberg (Berg SG): hundred-year-old Pinot Noir vines on golden sand, around a romantic castle

Buechberg (Thal SG): dizzying slope, 580 m altitude, hand-cultivated Pinot Noir

Huberberg (Altstätten SG): old terraces of Müller-Thurgau and Pinot Noir, limestone soil, epic panorama

Grape varieties & style

Ciders, Pinot Noir, Müller-Thurgau, Maréchal Foch, Cabernet Sauvignon and Muscaris

→ Natural, lively, unfiltered wines. Frank, textured reds with crisp minerality. Taut and straightforward whites, with an alpine energy.

Philipp's philosophy

“Wild and spontaneous.”
