Pinot Noir "Bärhalde" 2024 is the first vintage of this cuvée at Hossli Wein, and probably one of their most moving wines.

2024, though, gave nothing easily. Rain, humidity, mildew, a cold autumn, and a harvest spread over nearly a month: across more than a hectare, barely a tonne of grapes could be picked. A year of immense, almost catastrophic losses. And yet it's precisely in these difficult vintages that the truest wines are sometimes born.

Aged one year in used barrels, Bärhalde moves without forcing anything: low alcohol, light extraction, but surprising depth and concentration. In the glass, the fruit stays clean: black cherry, raspberry, undergrowth, a smoky touch, carried by a straight freshness and fine tannins.

The palate is supple, fluid, but far from light in the ordinary sense. It has depth, structure, and that instinctive energy that marks Cyril and Ivan's wines.

Drink slightly chilled, with roasted poultry, grilled mushrooms, a homemade pizza, or an evening that was supposed to be short.

A Pinot born from an impossible year. Little grape, plenty of soul.
