Möhr-Niggli's 2024 Pinot Noir is Maienfeld in clear line style: a red that aims for freshness and structure, not ostentation. The grapes come from the sunny slopes of the Bündner Herrschaft, worked with clockwork precision, then the wine matures for 10 months in oak barrels. Just enough to round out the edges, gain relief, and maintain that clean fruit that is the hallmark of the house. The result: a relatively accessible Pinot when young, but not "simple" for all that. It has good depth, and above all, good energy.
On the nose, it speaks in nuances: dark berries (blueberry, blackberry), more discreet cherry, cold smoke, sweet spices, with a light toasted touch in the background. Nothing overflows, everything is held. On the palate, it's ample but fluid, structured without heaviness, with a framework that stretches for a long time and a clean, fresh finish that makes you want to come back for more.
This is typically the "table" Pinot from Graubünden: the one that accompanies without taking the microphone. Bündnerfleisch and pickles for aperitifs, capuns, roasted poultry, veal with mushrooms, or a carefully selected cheese board. And if someone tells you "I only drink white," serve them this one.
