It could have been opulent, round, generous. But Mathilde and Rafael preferred to sharpen it. The Malanser Grauburgunder 2024 is a Pinot Gris raised with finesse: grapes trodden, gently pressed, naturally fermented, then six months in used barrels at 550–570 m altitude. Subtle nose of ripe pear, quince, dried herbs and hot stone. On the palate, the wine moves straight: ample but not heavy, structured but without stiffness, with a mineral tension that carries it far. With creamy poultry, baked fish or an autumnal vegetable dish, it holds its own perfectly. A vertical Pinot Gris.
