Anne-Claire Schott

Twann, Lake Biel – Switzerland

A free and committed winemaker

After studying art history and sociology, Anne-Claire Schott returned to her family lands, on the shores of Lake Biel. She took over 4.5 hectares of vines on the Twann hillsides, and converted them to biodynamics starting in 2018.

Her practice is intuitive, inspired by her travels and by a careful listening to the rhythms of nature. She works by hand, allows fermentations to occur naturally, and accompanies each wine gently, without artifice or standardization.

The soils are alive, the gestures precise, and the cuvées deeply sincere. Through each vintage, Anne-Claire seeks to express an interpretation of life, of the season, of the place.

Grape varieties & style

Chasselas, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir & blended cuvées

→ Vibrant wines, sometimes orange or with little sulfur, always spontaneous. Artisanal, free cuvées, born from careful observation and an invisible demandingness.

Anne-Claire's philosophy

“What I prefer about my job is managing to read the season and then expressing a year through my work.”
